Jürgen Richter "Sound Check-Magazin"

Quite a few bassists got blisters when they did slapping, others used Gaffa - both of which is not that great. So, a thing called "SLAPRING®" is just what you need.

The SLAPRING® consists of a thin metal tube about 4cm long. However, it is not completely closed but offers a small gap in length so that it fits thumbs of any size. Once put on it not only protects the neural joint ankle, but also strengthens this place with a lot of weight. This enables you to get cracking with thunder.

Also connected with the SLAPRING® is a special playing and striking technique. It should allow the bassist to slip in more double stops, chords and overtones. A corresponding instruction book is enclosed. But even without it the SLAPRING® is a very helpful invention. The thumb swings more precisely, more powerful and, of course, without pain. Besides, you can misuse the SLAPRING® to produce new sounds the inventor certainly did not think of. I successfully used it for slide effects and even for scratch sounds (rightly read!). The only disadvantage I could find so far is a slightly increased string wear - though only when using the usual slapping technique. As long as you keep to the producer´s advice, you will not have any problems concerning this.
